Don't Feed the Google and It Won't Bite You

A lot of people that I have talked to lately are really ticked off by the latest Google update. The problem with all of them so far is that they built their website on sand. Instead of good solid content, these website were created using only Search Engine Optimization techniques.

Whatever happened to the days of creating a great website with content that makes sense? So many companies seem to be getting it wrong with their websites. They either create a tiny never changing brochure site or they spend days rubbing sticks together and padding their websites with keywords until it catches fire on Google.

Stop putting all of your faith into Google. This latest update should prove to you that the science of Search Engine Optimization is really just fake religion. You have let them turn your website into snake oil tent.

Wake up and remember that it is all about content. When you first started it was all about faking it till you make it. Have you gotten to the make it part yet?

There has to be a way for you to take some time out and really fill your website full of information. It takes two seconds to create a blog. Start one now. Fill that blog with everything your customers and colleagues might want to know. A website full of useful information has far more value to other people (back links) and the search engines (keywords) then the ones that are all bait and no hook.
